What’s it feel like…

…to be living in a real-world Zombie apocalypse, today?

Fires, smoke, tornados. Marble-sized hail. All in a few weeks! The climate disaster, the inertia is racing out of control, thanks to our misplaced priorities.

Thank you, F150-style stupidity and greed. Cars, smog and pavement dominate our lives. Food prices escalating. Extreme weather threatening our very existance.

That’s right, it’s a ‘free’ country. Murder is illegal — but I am ‘free’ to destroy countless lives if I want to. I can buy a shiny, tank-sized F150 — just because I want to. I can drive, fly, consume — belch out carbon like a murderous fool. No need to be a tradesperson or farmer, I can just go out and buy whatever I want, just for my ego. I can even do “motorsports”, just for the murderous fun of it.

The world is burning, flooding, people are dying in ever greater numbers. Is this “civilisation”? Is this really the best we can do?

We are living in a Zombie apocalypse, right here, right now, today.

On the one hand, read in the news about how our world is ending, from city to city, coast to coast. But then, walk out on the street: all you see is Zombies, fast asleep. Driving back and forth, mostly needless trips in oversized vehicles, trapped in rat-race lives. Manipulated by our devices — cars, social media & iPhones — in ways that we can’t even begin to imagine.

The very air, food and water we need to live — all being destroyed. While half-asleep, we let ourselves be hypnotized by greedy, corporate dreams.

But are we happy? Is it even remotely worth it? Will we rise up and live a better way?

It’s not too late. We can snap out of the hypnosis, the cynicism and blame, take ownership of empowering each other and building a better world. Work for change: GoodWork.ca/Climate

How does it feel for you, living in a climate-Zombie apocalypse? Are you finding hope, despair, leadership, action? How are you finding ways to snap out of the hypnosis?

“We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”

Winston Churchill

And you? Are you fighting? Or fast asleep, letting the zombies rule our world?

Today, the enemy is certainly not the Germans. It is ourselves, our corporations, and so-called economic growth. If we are to survive, the time has come for real change in how we live, work and play.

Back and forth, back and forth go the cars, between here and certain death. Good, well-meaning people, lured by corporations into lives of certain destruction. Will we get back on our own feet, rediscover what a joy life can be without pavement?
